All pie, all the time on this week’s episode as we review Erin McDowell’s newest, The Book on Pie. Erin McDowell is a food stylist and baker extraordinaire. You may have seen where she teaches weekly baking classes on Food Network Kitchen, and host the series Bake it Up a Notch for Food52. She has this warm and genuine personality, which we love. Just as importantly, she’is an expert at baking, which is why I was excited to try her book. We baked all sorts of pies, from custard to pretzel to birthday cake. If you’re looking to dig deep into the subject of all things pie, this is your book!

Tara made: Peanut Butter and Jelly Pie, Tomato and Cheese Pie, Blueberry Streusel Pie, Pumpkin Pie “This was a book full of fillings that I wanted to try. I think I finally mastered pie crust!”
Besty made: Birthday Cake Pie, Custard Pie with Phyllo Crust “The Birthday Cake Pie was so fun and special to make for our party.”
Kate made: Chocolate Sugar Pie, Pretzel Pie, Earl Grey Caramel Custard Pie, Key Lime and Coconut Cream Pie, Mango Pie “This is a book full of tips, expert advice, and help for the baker. Not to mention recipes...wow.”
