Reviewing Midwest Made by Shauna Sever was a trip down memory lane. Yet at the same time we were excited to discover new favorites along the way. We baked all the way through this book from savory treats like soft pretzels to decadent Buckeye bars to the perfect after school cookies. Even if you’re not from the Midwest you’re sure to find a treat or two to bake and enjoy. We will be cooking from this book for years to come for family and friends and we think you just might, too.

Cookbook Review:Midwest Made by Shauna Sever
Tara made:
Soft Pretzels, Apple Cake, Cherry Shortbread Bars, Buckeye Bars. Tara said, “The recipes remind me of church potlucks back in Indiana. Lots of the recipes I remember from my childhood.”
Betsy made:
Monster Cookies, After School Special Cookies, Casserole Bread. Betsy says, “The cookies were so good and the kids ate them right up. The Casserole Bread made the best egg sandwich I’ve had in a long time.”
Kate made:
English Muffin Bread, Beer Cheddar Bread, Sunflower Bread, Apple Pear Crumble Bars. Kate says, “The yeast recipes were super simple and could be tackled in an afternoon. I had to give away the Apple Pear Crumble Bars before I ate them all!”
Overall, this was a book we all were happy to purchase. We think a beginning baker all the way to someone who’s experienced, would love this book.
